The latest range of tabloid computers launched by Apple is revolutionizing the computing and communication industry for the better. This new device was given the name iPad. The device is controlled by a multi touch screen, which is radically different from any of the previous tablet computers. The previous tabletcomputers were controlled by a pressure triggered stylus. This device also provides an onscreen keyboard instead of an actual physical keyboard.


The device comes with an inbuilt Wi-Fi compatibility, which makes it very convenient to browse the internet, watch and download video and audio files. Also, you can install and run various applications on it. For this, the device should be used in a Wi-Fi hot spot. It also has a separate variant that supports 3G connectivity. This helps the user to connect to the HSPA data network and make calls, which can be either voice or video calls. This device can easily be synched to a computer as well.


The iPad was globally launched in the year 2010 in the month of April. Till date, it has sold almost 15 million units worldwide, which is by any means, much greater than the total sale of other tablet PCs. It has a very clear touch screen which is 9.7 inches wide. It also features a liquid crystal display, which does not let fingerprints to stay on them. It also has a scratch resistant glass surface.


The display also includes two other sensors that increase the ease of using the device. The device senses the correct orientation and rotates the screen. There are two possible modes, portrait and landscape. The brightness is adjustable as it uses light sensor.


The device is also provided with two internal speakers that usually support mono audio output format. It even includes a voice controller switch to adjust the sound intensity. A standard 3.5 mm audio jack is provide on the top left corner, which is compatible with all the major headphones available in the market. This provides a stereo output through the headphones. The iPad also has an inbuilt microphone to enable recording of audio and voice calls.
